Giffnock...one of the nicer areas.
I took the wee dug a walk last summer at 9pm (dusk) to Rouken Glen park and was amazed at the amount of families still there, there was even a women's fitness club doing aerobics to some (quietish) music, lots of kids, I think you will find Giffnock very safe.
