They are. I work in the media industry and people who work for the group tell me they make less than you might think from ads and clicks and paper sales still make up the majority of most of the big publishers revenues. If the Daily Record still shifts about 10-15000 copies a day then that is £10-15k a day in sales making about £100k a month so about a million a year. Not much in the grand scheme of things.

What they probably make money from is affiliate marketing like the "Shoppers are racing to Primark for this £5 jumper" or whatever shite. They'll make v little money from copying and pasting stuff from Reddit but the real cash is in that affiliate marketing and paper sales. If papers didn't make them any money, they'd stop selling them.
