The best thing you can do is continue being there for your friend. Even at a distance make sure she knows someone is there. He will continually try to manipulate her to abandon you and her other friends and family.
On average it takes a woman 7 attempts to leave an abusive relationship (including going back after the initial breakup). The “cycle of abuse” and coercive control are so powerful and it’s just fucking awful to witness.
