Retailers aren't profiting at all at the moment - over 30 of them have gone bust (which is part of the reason for the standing charge hike - the costs of bailing out customers of failed retailers is passed through in the standing charge), and Ovo has been on the brink of bankruptcy for some time
(not excusing profiteering at all, but it's important to note it's only a particular subset of the sector - basically anyone selling wholesale gas - that is making hay) |
