Totally agree. Dogs should just be on a lead, especially around livestock. I saw an interview with the SSPCA recently, around the issue of dogs chasing sheep during lambing season. There was a dog behaviour expert on the interview, who said that no matter how good you think your dog's recall is, when they see livestock, it's like a red mist descends and there's virtually nothing you can do. I've seen it in my own dog (long passed now). He was a loving, gorgeous dog - well trained. But we NEVER let him off the lead because he would chase anything from rabbits to cows.
