I am not asking you to take my advice. Just stating the obvious. It's terrible driving if you know from experience that you may need to slam on your brakes yet still continue to drive without caution in the affected area. The only way to be safer is to drop your speed significantly. Only you can decide for yourself if you want to minimise the risks to pedestrians.
