| Comment | While bemoaning a “loss of freedom” around speed cameras, we may wish to ask ourselves “What [freedom] do we lose if we don’t rigorously enforce a 30mph, or whatever it is, speed limit?”
Such as: the freedom to walk around town without a constant tiring hum of loud tyre noise from the motorway. I remember seeing speed limits on Austrian motorways to do with lowering the noise levels for the towns and villages along the road.
Again, as a keen driver I hate average speed cameras. As a keen pedestrian, I would be 100% for them being introduced on the M8. |
