>My understanding is that the vast majority of properties are sold through solicitors (thorntons etc) rather than estate agents

This is kind of half right and half wrong.

Usually, a seller appoints an estate agent who manages the marketing (photos, description, advertising, etc.) and offers.

Solicitors conduct the legal side of the sale and purchase (conveyancing, settlement, etc).

You'll, of course, find some solicitors who also operate as estate agents and estate agents with in-house or linked solicitors.

>not all solicitor adds show on Zoopla but they all show on tspc

As above, we're talking about estate agents advertising, not solicitors.

As to whether they advertise on Rightmove or Zoopla, that's a case by case basis. The *vast* majority will advertise on both because the vast majority of people use RIghtmove and Zoopla as their default research tools.

I've sold recently and would never have selected an estate agent if they didn't use those websites.

As to whether TSPC includes *all* properties... I did a bit of research and it's not true. For example, this property on [Hill Street](https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/131955998#/?channel=RES_BUY) is advertised on Rightmove but *not* on [TSPC](https://www.tspc.co.uk/Search/Property-in-Hill-Street).
