honestly. the main reason i learned to drive 12 years ago was because i stayed in EK and even if you left at 7am every morning, there was still a chance you were going to be late if you took the bus and every day there was this girl who'd get on the bus and play beyonce at full blast. like not even on headphones. on her speaker. it made more sense tbh. even if i hit the morning traffic, it was still only 50 mins (at the time) which was a good 30-40 mins quicker.

i later moved to glasgow and honestly, the busses inside glasgow are much better than the ones that go outside glasgow (to places like hamilton or EK or motherwell) but still not great. it's really difficult to actually plan your journey because of the endless "ghost busses" and it seems every time i look up the times and give myself 10 mins wriggle room.... that's when the bus is 30 mins late.

i still maintain, despite all the aggressive drivers in glasgow, cycling is still the best way of getting around if it's an option for you and i honestly think that's why so many folk are still cycling in glasgow after the covid boom. they realised relying on the busses isn't great and can get expensive, but there's also some pretty good cycle routes and it's fairly cheap to do. sadly, it's not an option for everyone and i do often feel like public transit in this city still feels like an afterthought.
