What OP is doing is pointing out that if your ten year old is playing unsupervised in an area they must have not been in, which is made very clear, then it's not a fucking surprise shit happened.

Have you not noticed society has drastically changed in the last thirty years? Have you not noticed children don't play on the streets anymore? Have you not noticed how much extra danger there is in everyday life thanks to technological advances? Have you not noticed that parents accompany their children to school to a much older age than before simply because it's not safe?
