There's a train journey you can do (and i still want to!) from Glasgow to Fort William/Mallaig. Its supposed to be one of the most scenic routes, like, anywhere. Its the West Highland line. Think it costs around £45 return off peak, but it does take a while. Around 5 hours each way, with a little time to explore before the return journey.

If you go to Mallaig, you pass the Glenfinnan Viaduct used in the Harry Potter movies or the Hogwarts express!
