While Glesga is a legitimate pronunciation you shouldn't attempt this unless you have a particular type of Glaswegian accent. You could easily sound like a wanker.
Even though I have a Scottish accent (generic with a slight Edinburgh lilt), if I used "Glesga" I'd either sound like I was taking the piss or I was trying too hard to sound local. It would be like me being in New York, speaking to someone as I normally talk but pronouncing New York as "NOOO YOYKE". I'd sound like a twat. |
