Comment | Considering the downvotes I guess other Glasgwegians don't believe in the right to protest. Or rather they do believe in the right to protest, but only if it's someone they agree with.
I think these protesters are despicable. I strongly disagree with their views. But I'll defend their right to protest and am not comfortable with the idea of quashing people's right to protest just because I find them offensive.
I also don't believe it's a fallacy to warn of a slippery slope because already the government are trying to stifle protests more generally (and union activity/strikes). Ban this one group today, suddenly they're banning others that you do agree with. |
