| Comment | I used to live in London and I far prefer Glasgow. London has a really mean edge to it, especially in certain areas and as a woman on your own. A friend's teenage son got mugged at knife point for his phone and that was completely normal at his school and in their upper class area of leafy North London. Another friend helped a man who had collapsed on a bus and got zero help from other passengers who just looked through her when she asked if anyone is a doctor, I got creeped on by several creepy men while walking home, I saw a guy getting chased through Camden with a huge kitchen knife during the day in a "nice area", I saw a guy getting punched in the face for no reason during the day by a stranger. My husband ran bars and I was always so worried about him coming home safely at night, I had bad anxiety while I lived there and couldn't wait to get back to Glasgow. I know Glasgow has its fair share of bams and weirdos but I do think you're more likely to get help and support from the majority of the population if you needed it, than in London where crime is so commonplace and folk are so jaded and miserable or just scared to get involved that they generally turn away rather than help. |
