Instead, I already have a car. My tax and insurance has already been paid, and an MOT is required irrespective if I drive it 1 or 100,000 miles in a year.
In this instance, I can drive and park for cheaper than it costs me in petrol. It probably is still cheaper when I consider any wear and tear over a short journey as well.

EDIT: In fact, sometimes it's more expensive not to drive the car. I've had to replace a battery and perishing typres during COVID as I wasn't driving, and I had breaks sieze years ago on a car that wasn't driven for a few month. |
