Eeeeehhhhh, not really. I very often see this said by people who absolutely never take the train. The train service in the immediate Glasgow area is on the whole pretty reliable. I have taken the train everyday for the the last 4 years and I can count on one hand how many times a train has been cancelled outwith industrial action. The train is too expensive and needs expansion/improvements but it is pretty reliable if you live in the greater Glasgow area.

I work with someone who complains about traffic bitterly everyday and always says she could never take the train from her home 7 miles away as it is cancelled and broken down all the time but with a little prodding she will admit she hasn't even attempted to take a commuter train in 20 years so her view on reliability might not be all that trustworthy. See this kind of thinking a lot tbh.
