The worse type of fault are those on the low voltage system. This usually just covers a single or couple of streets and the protection that cuts off the fault is very low tech. It's actually just a big fuse rated at 400amps. This will blow if there is a fault on the low voltage cable. Now the thing is, because the fault is on a buried cable the company doesn't know where it is 🤷🏻‍♂️ and a funny thing is that a lot of these faults come and go so the best way to restore supply is to bang another fuse in and see what happens. This can immediately blow again or last for weeks! You unfortunately sometimes have to wait till the fault develops before you can find it by digging up the street and this can take a few replacements of the fuse! Putting a 400 amp fuse into a fault manually at 3am back in the day was so much fun 😳 keep phoning and complaining if you keep going off is my best advice 😃
