There are wild swimming clubs that do it year round and in the summer it can be nice too! There are some nice beaches like Arbroath but for fresh water loch morlich is lovely. Id avoid loch ness its just a massive tourist trap that is way more expensive for not a lot unless youre all about the loch mess monster
