Go on Google maps and look for rocky shores, stay away from towns and don't pick mussels after spring, there is too much danger of bacterial growth inside the mussels in warmer weather. TBH I would stay away from the Firth of Clyde and Ayrshire coast, they are too near big towns, Gareloch, Loch Long and Loch Fyne would be better.
