Larkhall is not Glasgow.
Avoid the pubs. I grew up there (and now live in a very similar area of Glasgow) and have never been in any of them. Don't wear a Celtic shirt out - you'll probably be fine but just don't do it. The union flags are not a joke, they're deadly serious.
I'd go a wee holiday on the weekend nearest the 12th of July. It will be hellish. Don't try driving in the town the night before either as there's a practice march.
There are some "nice" bits of Larkhall and some not so nice bits. It's not the worst but it's still small town with a small town insular feel at times.
Are you working in Glasgow or something? It's harder to meet people in the sticks but it's not the worst. |
