from all the posts in here from software devs think its clear its time to get the CV dusted off

its proven you make more when you move around jobs every few years rather than sticking in one, Loyalty means nothing to companies, id shop about, get a job offer and IF you enjoy working where you are take the job offer to the HR and ask them to match/better the salary on offer elsewhere, 50/50 they'd bump you up as if you leave they'd need to up the salary to market rate to attract applications anyway

Self employed gas technician last 2 years or so, after taking a 6 month crash course in it and take home after expenses before tax is about £50k

its definitely possible to live off 26k a year, but it in the next few years it'll be less and less so I think
