It's basically a posh suburb of Glasgow with all of the positives and negatives that entails.

The west end and other parts of the city are probably more exciting in terms of entertainment and culture but if you are used to a wee place in the middle of nowhere I can't imagine that will be a huge shock. You'll get plenty of wee family friendly pubs cafes and so on in bearsden/milngavie decent leisure facilities and you will have great access to green space in the form of country parks, some nice wee hill walks etc. If you want anything more specialised, in terms of arts/museums/entertainment and shopping you will probably find yourself going into Glasgow but as suburbs/commuter towns go bearsden and milngavie are probably as good as anywhere else.

Work wise, most folk probably commute to Glasgow and it's fairly easy to do there are local employment options as well depending on what you do but obviously, as with culture/services and shopping it's got a pretty good economy for a town of its size but a lot of jobs will still find you travelling to Glasgow.

People's wise, very generally it's well to do families and retired folk. You are more likely to get accosted by the local residents association than a gang of young ruffians. It's hardly a hub of bohemian culture but similarly not somewhere you are likely to encounter the sorts of social and economic issues that the greater Glasgow area and most cities will experience.

There are, obviously bits of bearsden/milngavie that have their share of social issues but the even those areas don't come close to the issues experienced in some other parts of the greater Glasgow area.

It's a pretty desirable place to live all things considered I'd say the worst you will be is bored but that's speaking as someone who has always lived in the city, if you are used to a quieter place you will probably not have that issue!
