| Comment | No, this seems like a decent solution for minimising damage to the door while you're waiting for repairs. It would need to be done up really tightly, which might also do some damage, but still way better than making holes in the door itself.
Regarding mice, get the council on it. They have an emergency pest control number and they come out putting poison around. You can also make your own traps using a deep bucket, a ruler, and peanut butter. Make a ramp up to the height of the bucket (I used old clothes), and balance the ruler over the centre of the bucket with one end on the ramp. Put the peanut butter on the end as bait, and the mice will 'walk the plank' and get trapped in the bucket underneath. It takes some practice to get the balance of the ruler right so the mice fall in, but when ive had mice this has worked way better than any commercial trap (but doesn't kill the mice).
