| Comment | I rented a tenement in Battlefield for a few years and the downstairs neighbour hired some cowboy builders to make his flat more open plan.They went ahead and knocked down a supporting wall, without temporary support beams or planning permission and the whole building sunk a couple inches.
I came back from Uni with folk in highvis and hardhats running around the building.They put up supporting beams and rebuilt the wall, stabilising the building. The owner of the flat got his arse kicked by the council and I think suspended his ability to rent the flat out. Folk in the close who owned their flats were rightfully raging as it basically reduced the value of their homes.
I'm not saying your neighbour is as daft as mine was but maybe do some due diligence. The fact you spotted a big steel beam is a positive I'd say mate. |
