Strangely, even though I moved from a tenement to a house 5 years ago, I still miss the noise and the buzz of things going on. The neighbour upstairs used to do his hoovering on a Friday evening at around 5ish which reminded me to finish up work. There was some mad arguments through the wall which was like having live River City going on. Ground floor door opening and closing with faint music meant they were having a bit of a sesh so I'd pop down with a bottle (only after getting to know them of course). It was a nice wee community.

I suppose if I lived in a close that had really rowdy parties at all hours, arsehole neighbours, etc. it might have been a bit of a pain, but there is comfort in the sounds of living around people.
