Where did you go on holiday?

I feel like a lot of people who moan about the public transport here dont actually use public transport that much and have very little experience of it abroad.

Once tried to get a train from Austin to New Orleans and managed to calculate that it would have been faster to cycle a big portion of the journey. I did get long train in the USA once, it went 5x slower than they do here and was 12 hours late turning up.

France and Italy can be extremely expensive for trains, also bus services in between anywhere but metropolitan cities in places like Spain and France are like once a week if you are lucky.

Was on the Mallaig train last week overhearing some locals complaining about the train service to some Australians who were bemused because their experience on holiday was far beyond anything they could ever imagine at home.

I think public transport can and should be better, cheaper and more widely available. I have had pretty good experiences elsewhere too (Sweden I have used a lot and that has always run really well, Germany pretty good too). But I think Scotland compares pretty decently in general.
