It's a tough situation. Your budget is decent but not high enough for "posh places" like Bearsden, Milngavie, Giffnock etc. I was in that position 2 years ago and ended up buying flat in the West End. Nice quiet and clean area, good schools, great neighbours and ideal commute to everywhere. But still a flat. My friends moved to Strathaven ina detached house (not great imo) and they like it but I would fucking hate it - far away, no rail links, boring af and always 2-3deg colder than Glasgow.

Maybe try better parts of Paisley? Or Stepps and area around? Bishopbriggs?
