The route past kelvingrove is the way to go if you really want to cycle as much as possible as off road as possible, but if you wanted, you could cycle straight up Buchanan street (pedestrianised) to buchanan bus station, then get off and push your bike to the canal at port dundas which is less than a ten minute walk from there. That’s a more direct route.

Once you’re at port dundas it’s canal towpaths all the way to the kelpies.
