He’s not allowed to do paid work on an asylum visa and very few companies sponsor visas anyway.
I’d agree that yes- the uni should be more involved and proactive. I think their careers service is mostly lip service. But with the number of overseas students that we now deal with there is just not the staff to coordinate this.
