I'd change that to keep going along the Clyde cycle path to the SECC. Over the Clyde Walkway (has a cycle section) , up Minerva Street, St Vincent Crescent, Corunna Street (all quiet). Cross Argyle Street onto Kelvingrove Street then follow the Kelvin path to the canal.
