I can give a wee bit of insight into that store. I work at another McDonald’s in the city but got sent there for the first month it opened cause they wanted experienced staff to help with the opening and it would mean I could walk to work.

It was always so over staffed. It was basically always dead. Most of the managers had been tempted to move with a promotion and so had very little experience.

In McDonald’s you get a promotion to crew trainer which as the name implies means it’s your job to train new staff. When they got in the staff from other stores to help they forgot to recruit crew trainers, so while we’d help where we could there was never anyone dedicated to teaching new folk, and due to so many staff and so little to do nobody learned much.

Then the experienced staff went back (I got the chance to stay but I’d rather be at the shitehole my pals all work at), the new staff had no clue, managers didn’t have the experience to run shifts and train everyone, and it all went to shit.

The franchisee lost millions on it so far I’m told, with hampden events and holyrood lunchtime keeping it going.
