Well, we have to kick it off with the abc.

It was many things in its lifetime- an ice rink, a theatre, a cinema but in the early 00s it was a music venue and it was class.


There was a smaller room (abc2) which was great for dance nights or smaller groups and a huge room for big gigs. The sound was great, the bar was tiny and inconvenient for the size of the place but it was too good to really care.

The disco ball was the biggest in Europe. And I think cost about a grand to turn on. But it was great when bands opted into it.

There was a 3rd bar space in the venue called the ice bar which was a bit of a no man’s land but the whole venue was so big it was a proper jaunt from one end to the other.

Sadly it caught fire when the art school burned down the first time and that was the end of that.
