Feeling unheard is common. They only want to know what can be used as evidence- they don't have time to chat.
Is it sherriff court or high court? If the latter, the lawyer will instruct counsel anyway, same for if it's sherriff and jury, so you will have someone more skilled and with more time to listen to you.
