| Comment | As far as I know the longer Edinburgh trains (part of the electrification and improvement of the glasgow-edinburgh lines) needed much longer platforms at Queen Street. This was done, but meant less main concourse space. So in a way this clearing/expansion of the concourse area is related to improvements already made.
Not meaning to be a Network Rail cheerleader, but I think that's the general reason for this happening. |
