Do your due diligence.

It’s shite you got scammed by a rogue trader but don’t accuse / assume because tradesmen ask money and deposits up front they aren’t running their business finances properly. Shows you know little about running a business.

Tradesmen get bumped or have to chase customers for payment all the time. If they use lines of credit to buy materials to work on your house they expose themselves to greater risk.

They are often sole traders or micro businesses. They might not have access to huge lines of credit and one person not paying them for labour and materials could be catastrophic to them on a big job.
