I agree with the general thrust of your argument, but you might be interested to know that birds don't have vocal cords. They have a unique apparatus called a syrinx. It's lower down than our vocal cords - right at the bit where the two bronchial tubes (one from each lung) come together at the base of the trachea. It allows birds to produce two distinct sounds at the same time as well as a range of complex calls and songs.

5.30 tomorrow morning, instead of feeling grumpy, perhaps the OP can take a moment to wonder at the marvel of evolution. 'Mon the birds.
