| Comment | Yeah, get it tested. The original lining is a kind of vitrified half pipe (can't remember the proper name) and the mortar between the joints can fail and the smoke leaks . If the original lining and mortar is sound you might not need it lined. A chimney sweep or fireplace installer will light a smoke bomb in the hearth and check other flats and attics for any leakage. |
