Minimum wage in Spain is 1050e while in the UK it is 1500e (data from Google). But the GDP per capita in the UK is $39k while in Spain it is $28k. Both the difference in salaries and in GDP is the same, a 70%, which means that both countries are paying the same if we compare how much money they have.
But for example the UK has 0 hour contracts, which Spain doesn't have.
I don't think it is related to money or salaries.
