| Comment | I run the cash desk at a some local/small gigs and some club nights, between Ivory Blacks (most often!), Audio, Slay, Room 2 and occasionally other venues and less frequently in Edinburgh. Tomorrow (Saturday 17th) I’ll be on the cash desk for Danse Macabre at Bonjour. It’s a great night; very queer friendly and almost always busy.
There’s been a lot of chat about the quality of smaller gigs lately, now that most of the ‘rescheduled after lockdown’ stuff has been and gone, it’s been difficult for some alt promoters (ie not Triple G) to book bands that either bring in a crowd, aren’t a tribute band, or both. I know there’s still some exciting bands in Glasgow, as well as elsewhere, but the focus seems to be online content, not live shows. I hope it’s just a hangover from the pandemic.
In any case, I really should punt the shows I’m working at up here and r/glasgowmusic to spread the word a bit more. So many times I’ve heard ‘aww I wish I knew that was on’, maybe it’ll help. |
