I have lived my whole life in a red rural area - I've never once felt at danger, I've felt much more at risk while visiting blue areas in Glasgow City Centre etc, I would have no issue with walking anywhere in a 5km radius of my house at any time whatsoever, it feels very safe here, but I don't know if that's because I've lived on the same three adjoining streets my whole life
