It's good to hear you're going to speak to your GP. I have done this twice in the past when I have been feeling similar to you, and both times I absolutely dreaded the appointment but I felt so much lighter even saying how I was feeling out loud. So many people are struggling with depression and isolation at the moment - you are not alone in this, I think you would be very surprised by how many people would recognise that strange feeling you describe in your first post.
