Coming from a similarly aged guy (22) that works and is also a student.

I spoke to my doctor about my issues when they were at their worst and I was put onto Citralopram, it’s an anti-depressant. It works differently for everyone but for me I still had negative thoughts, but they either went away fairly quickly or weren’t as extreme as what I normally felt.

The best thing for me was switching jobs - I know not everyone can do this but it’s worth considering if work causes stress and negative thoughts. I worked as a school receptionist and was totally depressed and even attempted suicide a few times, I ditched that job and went to work for CEX for a while but that didn’t work out either. Now I work in a job I absolutely love, I’m in one of the jewellers in Princes Sqaure and I cannot believe how much I love going to work now.

I think that speaking to your GP is definitely the best course of action, perhaps trying soek medication and seeing what works. But like I said, what worked for me was switching jobs.

Hope that you’re going to get on the mend soon.
