| Comment | That's really sad to hear but unfortunately not totally surprising. I've been a customer and employee of my fair share of comic shops and other nerdy spaces and while most of people are lovely people with families, friends and social awareness there is and always has been an incel-y element going back way before the term was coined.
I honestly don't think the staff enjoy hearing that stuff any more than you do but may well not feel safe challenging them (particularly if they are openly LGBTQ+ when violence and violent sentiment towards LGBTQ+ people is depressingly common) or may not feel able to challenge a customer in that way if management aren't supportive and have a "customer is always right" attitude.
It might be worth asking to speak to manger and if you don't feel they aren't taking it seriously make a more formal complaint to head office (if they have one!) |
