Comment | As someone who went to Glasgow Uni… there’s a definite classism towards glaswegian dialect and so many people lose their ‘brogue’ for a plummier cousin.
It’s partially due to having to work in an international context and be understood by a broad swathe of people… but it’s also a little class signifier.
If you don’t have an ear for accents you might not clock it, but if you’re in the west end a lot or follow the arts and culture scene in Glasgow it’s largely unavoidable.
