If you're just after cheap furniture, Shelter or British Heart Foundation have branches all over the city. I don't know if you have Charity Shops in Canada but basically these charities take donations of old furniture, spruce them up and sell them for knock down prices. You can usually find a useful bargain if you're not picky of style (a lot of "grandma's house" style stuff to be found here).

If you're looking for cool vintage stuff, the West End will probably be your friend. Bunker and The Real Deal are both in Finnieston and only one unit apart. I got a cool sideboard that I turned into a wetbar, and some antique green leather dining chairs.
