i work security in Glasgow Airport, rarely ever see anything heartwarming but i remember this one time a few years ago there was a japanese couple who were obviously going home from there holidays and another rather old looking scottish couple standing behind them, so anyway the japanese folk get up to my checkpoint and i give it the usual “any sharps weapons or liquids over 100ml will need to go”, the man mutters, liquid?? in a rather apprehensive somber tone, and i say yes, do you have any liquid? and he opens his cabin bag to reveal two bottles of famous grouse and a bottle of glenfiddich, i really did sympathise with the guy as it wouldn’t have been cheap but he was really understanding and he parted ways with his scottish blends, so i take them and he puts the rest of his stuff through and goes away through to duty free way, my break comes 5 mins after and i nip through to duty free to grab a bottle of water, but on my way i notice said japanese couple and said glaswegian couple standing looking at the whiskeys together and the scotsman goes “get a famous grouse and a glenfiddich and i’ll get them for you as a way to remember the hospitality you received in glasgow” i don’t think i’ve ever smiled as much in my now 5 years of working there, a true heartwarmer :)
