Go up the lighthouse tower on Mitchell Street. It's in the old Rennie Mackintosh designed Glasgow Herald newspaper building. Now a design/arts museum / gallery space. Make sure you go right up the top mind, not just to the viewing window in the main building. There's spiral stairs on the top floor that'll take up right up the top of the tower. 360 degree of the city centre.
