He was the first stand-up comedian who could sell out an arena-sized venue (like the SECC or the Hydro). Before him stand-up was limited to pubs, comedy clubs and (for the very successful) theatres. He was the first "RockStar" stand-up. He paved the way (for better or worse) for all those massive big-name comedians to similarly sell out large venues. |
