I failed three A-levels at school (D, E and N grades) and resat them at college. I hated school, but college "worked" for me and I bumped my grades up to CCD. Enough to get into uni.
I'm now a teacher of Computing Science with 13 years under my belt (after a decade or so of industry experience). It's never too late to try again, but I'd say it's best to have at it while you're up for it... And it sounds like you are!
