How cold and dark are we talking? Is there any natural light at all? A good choice would be an aspidistra as they’re mega tough by means of drought tolerance, light, and low-ish temperatures - but prolonged frost exposure will kill them. They’re also very slow growing and take a while to get established.

Dracaena trifasciata (aka sansevieria, aka snake plant) will tolerate dim light but it won’t grow very much. It’ll survive in cold temps as long as it doesn’t frost over.
